Is MasterCard Dig In & Do Good Fundraiser Just Another Clever Marketing Scheme?

By on Sep 17, 2013 in Events, Featured, Food, Lifestyle, Portfolio | 0 comments

From now through September 28, 2013, when you use your MasterCard credit card and spend $10 or more at a restaurant, MasterCard will donate up to $4 million to Stand Up 2 Cancer (SU2C) through their  national marketing campaign, “Dig In & Do Good.”  SU2C, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, raises funds to accelerate cancer research that can get new treatments to patients quickly and save lives. Get more info at http://merchant.mastercardconnect.com/programs.php?p=3 My grandmother used to say, “an ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure.” I personally have never understood how we can find a cure for cancer if we don’t change habits known to promote cancer. We’ve literally raised billions on cancer treatment research when prevention has proven to be less expensive and more effective in almost...

St. Louis Rams Players to Watch During The First 2013 Regular Season Game

By on Sep 7, 2013 in Entertainment, Events, Featured, Lifestyle, Portfolio | 0 comments

It’s time for the regular season to begin. The St. Louis Rams host the Arizona Cardinals in a divisional matchup to kickoff the season.   The Rams have a lot of players that will be interesting to watch this Sunday, a host of new players that will either start or get plenty of playing time. They have returning players that will have more expectations placed on them this season because their roles have increased.   The players listed are not only players to watch; they will be key to determining who wins or loses this game.   Tavon Austin: The top player to watch this week has to be the Rams rookie first-round receiver. Expectations are higher on Austin because he was the most electifying man in college football last season. The Rams have been hiding how they will use Austin, while adding fuel on the fires of anticipation by saying that they don’t want to...

Saint Louis Art Fair in Clayton Missouri Friday September 6th-8th

By on Sep 1, 2013 in Entertainment, Events, Featured, Lifestyle, Portfolio, Travel | 0 comments

Seth Godin says, “Your art is what you do when no one can tell you exactly how to do it. Your art is the act of taking personal responsibility, challenging the status quo, and changing people.” I believe this is what connects so many of us to artists. Artists must overcome the resistance to change and ignore the voice of doubt to make something worth making. A process you and I go through in our daily lives and work. We’re a piece of the puzzle. The Saint Louis Art Fair (SLAF) is a free, three-day celebration of the visual and performing arts. The Art Fair will be held on September 6th, 7th and 8th in Clayton’s central business district. The main focus is an easy-access juried exhibition of gallery quality fine art and craft with exhibiting artists. The St. Louis Art Fair is one of the top rated in the nation year after year! The Art Fair presents live...

Eat Here St. Louis Helping St. Louis Access Local Food

By on Aug 31, 2013 in Featured, Food, Lifestyle, Portfolio | 0 comments

I caught up with Andy Ayers, from Eat Here St. Louis Yesterday. Andy and I go way back to when he owned and operated Riddle’s Penultimate Cafe in the U-City Loop. I remember his commitment to purchasing food raised and harvested by local farmers before he even wrote the menu each day. He found that old-time varieties, unsuited for industrial farming, raised and harvested by hand right before he used them improved the quality of his menu. Andy Says, “I noticed that something felt especially right about putting the money directly in the hand of the person who grew the food that I would prepare and serve to my guests.” Now, Andy has started Eat Here St. Louis with the goal of helping St. Louis access local food. He is helping growers in the bi-state Missouri and Illinois region, particularly those in a 100-mile radius of St. Louis, to market their products and to help...

Top Five Things To Do In St. Louis This Labor Day Weekend

By on Aug 30, 2013 in Entertainment, Events, Featured, Food, Lifestyle, Portfolio, Travel | 0 comments

TAKE A BREAK! Smell the roses, slow down, play with your kids, go to the lake, catch a ball game, leave the computer, tablet, and smart phone at home, take a drive, eat breakfast at noon, and celebrate your hard work. You know why? Because you deserve it, and work will be waiting for you on Tuesday morning. However, if you must do something more, St. Louis Labor Day Weekend is always full of excitement. One of my favorite events is the Labor Day Parade. There’s something special about a day to honor those “who from rude nature have delved and carved all the grandeur we behold.” If decide to go the Labor Day Parade, take a leisurely drive to  The Blue Owl Restaurant and Bakery down in Kimmswick and enjoy a slice of Levee High Caramel Apple Pie and other homemade menu items for lunch. It’s a short 30-minute drive but a hundred miles away from work.   Here are...

St. Louis Rams Last Preseason Game Today Against Baltimore Ravens at Edward Jones Dome

By on Aug 29, 2013 in Entertainment, Events, Featured, Portfolio, Travel | 0 comments

I can’t wait to hear those seven words. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL! Well, maybe it’s six words. The St. Louis Rams head into 2013 looking to improve on a promising 2012 season in which the Rams went 7-8-1 in head coach Jeff Fisher‘s first season with the franchise. With the departure of longtime running back Stephen Jackson, former #1 overall pick Sam Bradford will be targeting new acquisitions Jared Cook (TE) and rookie wideout Tavon Austin early and often. Unlike Bradford’s first few years in the league, the Rams now have some beef up front to keep the former Oklahoma Sooners gunslinger on his feet. The Rams brought in Pro-Bowl caliber offensive tackle Jake Long via free agency, and drafted Alabama guard Barrett Jones with their fourth round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft  . . .  more at  http://www.contender.com/blog/ Game starts today at 7 pm.   Read More:...
